A Bespoke Football Coaching Platform Built on SMART Data

Finding the right football coach can be challenging for players and parents, while coaches often struggle to manage bookings, payments, schedules and administration across multiple systems. My Grassroots was created to solve both problems by bringing players, parents and coaches together within a single platform.

Currently in development, the project aims to become a trusted ecosystem for grassroots football, helping players discover coaching opportunities while giving coaches the tools they need to manage and grow their services.

The platform began development in late 2024 and is being built on the SMART Data infrastructure as a fully bespoke sports technology platform designed specifically for grassroots football.

Creating trust within grassroots football

One of the key challenges in grassroots sport is helping parents and players feel confident when choosing coaching providers. My Grassroots is being developed with trust and verification at its core.

Coaches will be able to go through verification processes, including DBS validation, helping provide greater confidence for players and families. This creates a safer and more transparent environment while making it easier for quality coaches to stand out.

Managing players, coaches and bookings

The platform is designed to support much more than simple session listings. Coaches need tools to manage schedules, organise coaching groups, accept payments and maintain relationships with players over time.

My Grassroots brings these operational requirements together within a single system. Players and parents will be able to discover coaching opportunities, book sessions and manage participation, while coaches gain a streamlined platform for running their business.

Supporting recurring coaching relationships

Unlike many booking platforms that focus only on individual appointments, coaching often involves long-term development. The system is therefore being designed to support both one-off sessions and recurring payment models, helping coaches create sustainable programmes while giving players continuity in their development.

These features will allow coaches to build lasting relationships with players while reducing administration and simplifying payment collection.

As development continues, My Grassroots is evolving into a comprehensive platform that combines coaching discovery, safeguarding, scheduling, payments and player management. By bringing these processes together, the platform aims to remove friction for everyone involved in grassroots football.
