How we reduce our carbon footprint

• Hydroelectric-powered hosting: Our SMART Hosted platform runs on low-carbon hydroelectric energy to reduce operational emissions.
• Renewable WordPress hosting: WordPress sites we host are served on infrastructure powered entirely by wind, solar and tidal sources, which is tied to an ongoing tree-planting programme.
• Extended hardware lifecycle: Our providers prioritise practices that prolong the useful life of servers and networking equipment, cutting the need for frequent replacements.
• Modular, demand-driven data centres: Our SMART approach uses modular builds that scale to need and minimise overprovisioning and waste.
• Purpose-tuned hardware: We provision customised and right-size hardware on servers with non-essential components removed to reduce energy use and improve cooling efficiency.
• Natural air cooling: Our SMART server hosting relies on ambient air cooling for the majority of the year, reducing the need for energy-intensive chillers.
