Property Search Website Powered by SMART and API Automation

Devenports Estate Agents needed a modern property website capable of showcasing available properties while remaining synchronised with their property management system. Rather than relying on manual updates, the goal was to create a website that could automatically keep listings, images and property information up to date.

The solution was built using SMART, CoreTechnics' platform technology, with a bespoke API integration connecting the website to a third-party property management system. This allowed property information to flow automatically between systems, reducing administration and ensuring visitors always had access to the latest information.

Although the website was originally delivered while Dan was working at a previous agency, the project remains an excellent example of SMART being applied to a specialist industry and demonstrates how API-driven websites can simplify content management while delivering a better user experience.

Keeping property information up to date

One of the biggest challenges for estate agency websites is keeping property information current. Listings change regularly, properties are sold or let, prices are updated and new photography becomes available. Manual updates can quickly become time consuming and increase the risk of outdated information appearing online.

To solve this, SMART was integrated directly with the client's property management platform through a bespoke API connection. The website automatically synchronised property data every few hours, ensuring that visitors always saw the latest listings and status information.

Designed around property search

The website was built to help prospective buyers and tenants quickly find relevant properties. Visitors could browse featured listings, filter available properties, view image galleries and explore locations using map-based search tools.

Property detail pages presented key information clearly while enquiry forms provided a direct route for prospective customers to contact the Devenports team.

Demonstrating the flexibility of SMART

While this project is no longer running on SMART today, it remained on the platform successfully for several years. The website demonstrated how SMART could be adapted beyond traditional business websites to support specialist sectors with more complex data requirements.

The combination of API integration, automated content synchronisation and property-focused functionality provided a reliable solution for managing a constantly changing catalogue of listings.

What happened next

In 2024, Devenports chose to move in a different direction and commissioned a replacement WordPress website through another provider. While the original SMART-powered website is no longer live, the project remains a useful example of how API-driven websites can automate business processes and reduce administrative overhead.

For CoreTechnics, it also serves as an early showcase of the SMART platform's flexibility and its ability to integrate with third-party systems to solve real operational challenges.
